The Lincoln MKZ is an incredibly versatile car manufactured by Ford. It is an affordable luxury vehicle that can be customized to meet any wants and needs without breaking the bank.

Generations and Variations

There are two generations of the Lincoln MKZ. Initially, the MKZ was called the Zephyr. However, in 2007, Ford revamped the Zephyr and renamed it the MKZ.

  • First Generation: The first generation of the Lincoln MKZ was produced from 2006 to 2012. This line-up began with the Zephyr and was quickly remodeled and labeled the Lincoln MKZ. The car offered an intelligent all-wheel-drive system, perforated leather seats, a reverse sensing system, a stability control system, Sirius satellite radio, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. In 2010, the MKZ got a facelift – updating the interior and exterior with even more amenities. The insides featured real wood and metal, and features like rain-sensing windshield wipers, adaptive HID headlights, and a reverse camera system were added.
  • Second Generation: This is the current generation of Lincoln MKZ that was introduced in 2013. The car was available with three different powertrains, but not many new features were added. By 2015, features like automatic headlights, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera were standard amenities in the MKZ.

MKZ Hybrids

The first MKZ hybrid was introduced in 2011. It was the first Lincoln hybrid electric vehicle, and it boasted an incredible 41 mpg. This hybrid was so well-received that it was one of the five finalists for the 2011 Green Car of the Year award. It was also ranked as one of the top luxury hybrid models by the Union of Concerned Scientists in 2011. As far as the second generation of Lincoln MKZ, the cars were introduced in 2013 with a hybrid option. The 2013 hybrid MKZ model became the most fuel-efficient luxury vehicle in the United States at 45 mpg.

Matthew McConaughey and the MKZ

Matthew McConaughey, a famous actor, has endorsed the Lincoln MKZ, becoming the face of its commercial advertisements. The commercials feature McConaughey driving the MKZ, showing how well the car handles. The advertisements focus solely on the car; there is not much dialogue in the commercials. But who can resist anything when it involves Matthew McConaughey?

Affordable and Desirable

The price tag of the Lincoln MKZ is not scary at all – prices range from $35,000 to $45,000 usually. The car is well-equipped with standard features and offers quick acceleration with a turbocharged V6 engine. Additionally, the hybrid versions of the MKZ don’t cost any more than their non-hybrid counterparts

The standard MKZ offers the same amenities as a high-end Ford Fusion, but you can add more features with different trims. For example, the Reserve trim of the MKZ adds “leather upholstery, genuine wood trim, ambient interior lighting, a power-adjustable steering column, a power-operated trunk lid, and illuminated door sill plates.” This trim also offers integrated navigation and extra USB ports in the back of the center console for the convenience of backseat passengers.

Lincoln MKZ

All Lincoln MKZ models include an infotainment system that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities and basic driver-assistance features like blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking. For an extra cost, you can add amenities like adaptive cruise control and self-parking.

The MKZ is a truly customizable car that can be adjusted to fit multiple price points and personal needs.
