With just about a hundred different crossover choices on the market today, there are many buyers that find themselves sifting through tons of flashy, luxury-styled vehicles.

The Chevrolet Trax is the complete opposite. It is the perfect crossover for the low-key driver who just wants something comfortable and reliable to ride in.

A Brief History of the Chevrolet Trax

The Chevrolet Trax first debuted at the Paris Motor Show back in 2012, and the final debut took place at the North American Auto Show back in 2013. It wasn’t until 2015, after making it to many countries around the world, that it finally made its way to the United States.

The idea of the Chevrolet Trax came from a reaction to the compact crossover market. This was Chevrolet’s first attempt to create a crossover vehicle since the Tracker back in the early 2000s.

The Modest Technology of the Chevrolet Trax

The 2019 Chevrolet Trax utilizes a turbocharged 1.4L four-cylinder engine that puts out 138 horsepower. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that is surprisingly smooth, as well as front-wheel-drive. The handling is very firm and steady overall.

The Trax comes with an integrated 7.0” touchscreen infotainment system that functions well and comes complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. Wi-Fi is standard as well. In terms of safety features, the Trax comes with available forward-collision warning, available rear parking sensors, and available blind-spot monitoring.

The First Generation of the Chevrolet Trax (2013-Present)

While the Chevrolet Trax is still in its first generation, there have been a few notable changes over the past few years. During the 2013 year, the Trax was only sold in Mexico, Canada, South Korea, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and Europe. It wasn’t until 2015 that it hit the United States with US-specific features, such as 4G LTE and SiriusXM.

In 2017, the Trax received a facelift, which included LED daytime running lights, a new grille design, and 18” aluminum wheels on the Premier trim.

The Chevrolet Trax In the News

In recent and unfortunate news, New York police have just found the 2017 Chevrolet Trax that hit two girls and killed a dog during a hit-and-run. Both girls are alive, though they did suffer a few injuries.

Celebrity Endorsements of the Chevrolet Trax

While there are plenty of celebrities that own Chevrolets, we haven’t been able to find any that endorse the Chevrolet Trax. This is no surprise, as the Trax isn’t exactly the most outstanding vehicle on the market right now.

Like many other Chevrolet vehicles, the Chevrolet Trax has its own forum where owners and enthusiasts can get together and share information about their favorite little crossover.
