With all of the compact cars on the market these days, it can be pretty hard for one to stand out amongst the others.

This is where the Chevrolet Cruze comes into play. It is one of the most competent and quality-driven compact cars on the market today, sporting a surprising amount of space for a small car, a variety of high-tech features, and an overall comfortable ride.

The Release of the Chevrolet Cruze

Though the Japanese used the “Cruze” name from 2001 to 2008, it wasn’t until 2008 that the true Chevrolet Cruze entered into its first generation. The car came directly after the company decided to phase out the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5.

Bold and Compact – The Technology and Innovations of the Chevrolet Cruze

The 2019 Chevrolet Cruze uses a base turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 153 horsepower. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, though can be outfitted with an optional six-speed automatic transmission as well. The suspension on the Cruze is soft and stable, feeling smooth over bumpy roads.

The Cruze comes with a MyLink Infotainment System that gives drivers 4G LTE technology and a standard 7.0” touchscreen. The infotainment system comes complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are a variety of safety features as well, including automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and forward-collision warning.

A Short Timeline of the Chevrolet Cruze

  • First Generation Chevrolet Cruze (2008-2016)

The first Chevrolet Cruze was available with two different petrol engines, including 1.6L and 1.8L, though also came with an optional 2.0L diesel engine.

  • Second Generation Chevrolet Cruze (2016-Present)

By the second generation, the Chevrolet Cruze was a bit larger, though also lighter. The car featured a much more muscular design, a brand new infotainment system, soft-touch materials, and a stiffer suspension.

The Chevrolet Cruze In the News

In recent and unfortunate Chevrolet news, the Chevrolet Cruze went into a head-on collision with an oncoming SUV in Russia. Both drivers were hospitalized, though both also made it out alive.

Celebrity Endorsements of the Chevrolet Cruze

Though we don’t ever expect celebrities to be seen driving around in standard economy cars, there are a few who love their Chevrolet Cruzes. Grace Park, who plays Kono in Hawaii Five-O, can be seen in her Chevrolet Cruze. American actor Wentworth Miller also has a Chevrolet Cruze.

The Chevrolet Cruze – Stylish and Compact

The Chevrolet Cruze never set out to prove anything, which is one of the reasons we love it so much. It is one of the most universal compact cars on the market right now, and has tons of exciting characteristics that make it surprisingly fun to drive. Though it might not be a match for the supercars of the world, it is special in its own way. We look forward to the future of compact cars and the Chevrolet Cruze.
