A Brief and History of the Cadillac CT6

The CT6 was first introduced at the New York International Auto Show in 2015 and went on sale the next year. It was a period in time where Cadillac was still trying rebrand. This was also the very first time that Cadillac had released a full-size model since their Fleetwood, which was taken off of factory lines in 1996.

Technology and Innovations of the Cadillac CT6 – A Vehicle of Premium Luxury

The CT6 is quite a monster with a max 500 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Some of the top features include Super Cruise hands-free driving assistance, a rotary infotainment system, total climate control, and engine choices ranging from a 3.6L naturally aspirated engine to a 4.2L Blackwing Twin-Turbo V-8.

  • First Generation Cadillac CT6 (2016-Present)

The very first CT6 was released in March of 2016 and came with an array of high-quality features, including a Bose Centerpoint 10-speaker system and Enhanced Night Vision. It was initially available with a base four-cylinder 2.0L turbo engine. 

Not long after, the company introduced the CT6 PHEV, a plug-in hybrid with the same powertrain as the Chevy Volt, providing 266 horsepower and a 2.0L four-cylinder DI gas engine. By 2017, this model was available with base and premium trim levels. 2017 was also the first year that they introduced Cadillac Cruise, allowing drivers to drive hands-free. 

In 2019, the Cadillac CT6 was upgraded to a base 4.2L V-8 twin-turbo engine with 550 horsepower. It was upgraded with a Bose Panaray Surround Sound System and Dolby DTS technology, with a mind-blowing 34 speakers. 

The Cadillac CT6 In the News

In recent Cadillac news, the car manufacturer is currently making negotiations with the United Auto Workers, which will effectively determine the future of the CT6. As of now, the Detroit-Hamtramck plant will be shut down at the beginning of 2020, which could mean a discontinuation of the CT6. Hear more of the story below:
