If there was one vehicle that truly embodies the Buick brand, that vehicle would be the Buick Envision.

It is your archetypal family-style crossover SUV with room for everything and everyone. Beyond that, it gives drivers the subtle feeling of luxury without going overboard. While it may not live up to the features of its older brother, the Enclave, it does quite a good job at providing crossover lovers with pure urban drivability.

A Background of the Buick Envision

Though the Envision debuted in China in July of 2014, it wouldn’t hit the North American market until 2016 after debuting at the North American International Auto Show. Buick branded it as a “CUV”, which stands for “Compact Utility Vehicle”. In the beginning, it was only offered in all-wheel-drive, though front-wheel-drive eventually became standard.

Technology Of a Versatile Crossover – The Buick Envision

The 2019 Buick Envision comes with a base-level 2.5L engine with 197 horsepower. It utilizes a front-wheel or all-wheel-drive powertrain with a six-speed automatic transmission. There is a higher-level trim with a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that puts out 252 horsepower as well, which utilizes a nine-speed automatic transmission.

On the inside lies an 8.0” infotainment touchscreen system with 4G LTE and Wi-Fi. Some top upgradable features include a head-up display and driver-assistance features such as lane-keeping assist, automated emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Two Generations of the Buick Envision

  • First Generation Buick Envision (2014-2018)

The first-generation Buick Envision came with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that put out 197 horsepower. In 2016, the only two trims available were Premium I and Premium II. By 2017, the company had expanded the trim levels to five different types.

  • Second Generation Buick Envision (2018-Present)

The second-generation Buick Envision received a bit of a facelift with an updated grille and a chiseled rear-end design. Some other additions included angular taillights and an updated stop/start feature.

The Buick Envision In the News

In recent Buick news, U.S. President Donal Trump said the General Motors, the largest U.S. automaker, should move back to the U.S. from China. This all started when Trump rejected a GM request to exempt the Buick Envision, a Chinese-made vehicle, from the 25% U.S. tariff.

Celebrity Endorsements of the Buick Envision

Though it seems as if Buick has been attacking the celebrity market left and right these past few years in an attempt to modernize their brand, we have yet to see any celebrity endorsements of the Buick Envision. This is likely because it is marketed as more of a “family car”.
